Brethren, I am writing this article about a week before Thanksgiving Day. After putting together the minutes history for this month, I noticed that almost all of the notable events for Decembers past had something to do with Giving. I thought that was an interesting coincidence.
At the December 2003 stated meeting, Worshipful Humberto Flores reported that he was able to take two [2] wheelchairs and three [3] walkers to Helios Lodge No. 9, in Sabinas, Coahuila Mexico. He said the Past Grand Master of the Lodge was really taken and very appreciative.
In December of 1978, the San Jose Scottish Rite Bodies presented Friendship Lodge with new door plates, to replace the cardboard ones that the lodge had been using.
At the December 1973 stated meeting, the secretary announced that a check in the amount of $2,734.00 had been presented to the San Jose Masonic Temple Association; said amount representing contributions received from the brothers of Friendship Lodge over the past month for furnishings and furniture for our new Masonic Temple.
At the 1958 stated meeting, Brother Bill Hershberger (Senior Warden at the time) brought a motion before the lodge to present newly raised Master Masons of Friendship Lodge with a presentation trowel. The motion passed, and this tradition remains to this day.
On December 18th, 1958, Brother Wallace Stovall was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason. He would later go on to become Master in 1966.
